Job prospects as Isuzu secures deal to distribute UD trucks

The company will oversee assembly, sales, and aftersales support for UD Trucks in the country.

A new collaboration between Isuzu East Africa and UD Truck is set to create employment opportunities for youths in Mombasa and Nairobi through the establishment of new vehicle assembly plants.

Under this partnership, Isuzu East Africa and UD Truck have agreed to establish a new vehicle assembly plant in Mombasa while also expanding the existing plant in Nairobi.

In addition, Isuzu East Africa has secured distributorship rights for UD Trucks in Kenya. The company will oversee assembly, sales, and aftersales support for UD Trucks in the country.

Speaking at a media briefing held at Isuzu East Africa's Nairobi premises, Managing Director Rita Kavashe highlighted the significance of commercial vehicles and their applications in the industry.

"Isuzu East Africa has been the overall market leader for 12 consecutive years and is a trusted automotive distributor in the region. This partnership ensures UD Trucks customers receive robust support from Isuzu East Africa," she emphasized.

Kavashe underscored the company's commitment to providing high-quality products and dedicated customer support to UD Trucks customers.

Mourad Hedna, President of UD Trucks MEENA (Middle East, East & North Africa Region), expressed confidence in Isuzu East Africa's ability to deliver exceptional support to UD Trucks customers in Kenya.

"With Isuzu East Africa's expertise, we aim to offer comprehensive support to our customers, including expert technical assistance and a reliable supply of genuine parts," he stated.

Hedna further emphasized the strength of the partnership, combining UD Trucks' Japanese Brand heritage and Isuzu East Africa's dedication and expertise.

"I'm confident that with our Japanese Brand heritage, our latest Euro 5 Range covering from 10 to 80 Tonnes, and the dedication and expertise of Isuzu East Africa, we will have one of the most competitive offers for our customers in Kenya bringing back our strong and long legacy," he added.

Isuzu East Africa's Chairman Hiroshi Hisatomi highlighted the company's plans to assemble the heavy-duty Quester and the medium-duty Croner for sale in Kenya, with the official sales launch scheduled for the second half of 2024.

"Immediate aftersales support will be provided to existing UD Trucks customers to ensure a seamless ownership experience," he said.
